Ola King Douglas

Ola King Douglas of Guntersville, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 27. 2020 with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter by her side on May 27, 2020. She was born on October 9, 1925 to Buck and Betty Wood King. She was a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Guntersville Chapter. She joined in 1954. She fulfilled many offices before serving as the Worthy Matron in 1978-79. She received her 50 year pin in 2004. She grew up in the Warrenton area of Guntersville and remained there for her 94 years. She and her late husband, James R. Douglas, built and operated the Beech Creek Fishing Camp from the early 1950's until the 70's when they built and operated the Western Auto store where Bonds Appliance is now located. Ola was known as "Mum" by her grandchildren who gave her much enjoyment in life. In her later years, she enjoyed her multiple cats, was a die hard Democrat and lived to watch the dialy politcal updates. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Douglas Harrison, son in law Brownie Harrison. granddaughter Christi Harrison, great grandchildren Brooke Harrison Peek (Zach Peek) and Harrison Skinner, great-great grand children Brylin and Tatum, and a host of nieces and nephews that she adored, and a special friend Becky Mason who was like family to her. Preceded in death by her husband James R. Douglas, parents Buck and Betty Wood King, brother Ellis King and sister Ester King Griffith. Her visitation is Sunday May 31, 2020 from 1-3pm and funeral at 3pm at Guntersville Memorail Chapel with burial at Diamond Cemetary.
