Milan Lafayette Davenport passed away on April 23, 2019, at 86 years of age in Madison, Alabama. His death occurred 30 days after the death of the love of his life and wife of 66 years. He was the oldest son of Ervin and Ocie Davenport, born on October 10, 1932, in Cannon County, Tennessee. Milan graduated from Auburn High School in 1951and attended Middle Tennessee State University. In1953, Milan went AWOL from the US Air Force to marry Elizabeth “Lib” Duggin on April 5. Milan found much joy in his children and grandchildren, along with a good cup of coffee. He could often be found at Huddle House with a grandchild or sharing stories with friends, while drinking endless cups of coffee. Milan was an active member of the United Church of God in Huntsville. Milan’s two greatest loves were Lib and flying. He often marveled at how blessed he was to have been married to the best person he had ever known and to have had an occupation as a pilot, logging approximately 50,000 hours of flight time. Milan is survived by his siblings Marvin (Ruth) Davenport and Lois (Steve) Hawkins; his children Galen (Lee Ann) Davenport, Rhonda (Marty) Likos, Quint Davenport, and Ronnie (Sue) Davenport; his grandchildren Keegan (Casey) Davenport, Chris (Jessica) Likos, Andrew (Amy) Likos, Martie Ann Likos, Kate (Hardin) Namie, Gracie (Kory Love) Likos, and Daniella Davenport; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Milan was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Duggin Davenport and his parents Ira Ervin Davenport and Ocie Alexene Tenpenny Davenport. The visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Guntersville Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Guntersville Memorial Chapel. Mr. Beam will officiate the funeral. The burial will follow at Brookwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Guntersville Public Library.
