Marilyn LaVere (Carr) Mallary passed away on Sunday, October 9th, 2016. She was born August 27, 1933 to Vere and Marjorie Carr in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Oelwein, Iowa where she met her husband, Robert J. Mallary. They had seven children together and lived in Des Moines until moving to Missoula, MT in 1970 and then on to Guntersville, AL in 2006. Marilyn was a warm, friendly, compassionate woman of faith. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone she met feel comfortable, loved, and completely accepted. She loved playing games with family and friends, crossword and sudoku puzzles, sewing, crafts and just enjoying life. She was active in the church and the communities she lived in. Among other responsibilities, she was church secretary at Grace United Methodist in Missoula for 18 years. She was a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout den mother, devoted wife, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, awesome sister, and terrific friend. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dennis Mallary, daughter Gwendolynne (Mallary) Johnson, and granddaughter Rebecca Mallary. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Wayne Englishbee of Anchorage, AK; daughter and son-in-law, Robilyn and Michael Stalder of Lander, WY; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Brenda Mallary of Sante Fe, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bob Handley of Stevensville, MT; son, Joshua Mallary of Billings, MT; and son-in-law and wife, Wayne and Susan Johnson of Lawton, OK; sister, Marjorie Wilhold of Guntersville; and sister-in-law, Cheryl and Jesse Paxton of Mansfield, MO. Grandchildren, Wayne and Stefanie Johnson of Great Falls, MT; Jaimie and Rhonda Johnson of Birmingham, AL; Amber Johnson of Lawton, OK; Chris Johnson of Lakewood, WA; Amanda Englishbee, Alex Englishbee both of Anchorage, AK; Allison Stalder of Missoula, MT; Aaron Stalder of Chanhassen, MN; Jason Stalder of Lander, WY; Melissa Mallary, Crystal Mallary both of Albuquerque, NM; Samantha Handley of Stevensville, MT; Skyler Mallary of Missoula, MT; Joleen Mallary, Alivia Mallary, Daphine Nikitschenko-Mallary all of Billings, MT; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 14th, at 2 P.M. at the Diamond United Methodist Church on Warrenton Road in Guntersville. Marilyn’s ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband and her son in Oelwein, Iowa in June of 2017.
