John Huffstutler Jr. Mr. Huffstutler died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. He was 84. He grew up in Birmingham. He attended Auburn University, where he was a member of the SAE fraternity, and then graduated in 1952 with a bachelors degree in science. Mr. Huffstutler enlisted in the U.S.Navy and served on the USS Mississippi. In 1955 he attended the Alabama School of Law. Upon graduation he became a U.S. District Attorney in Birmingham. In 1966 Mr. Huffstutler moved to Guntersville and opened his law practice, where he worked until his death. At one time he also served as municipal court judge. He was a member of the Lions Club. Mr. Huffstutler is survived by his 2 daughters, Gail Huffstutler of Birmingham and Peggy Huffstutler Caudell (Dr. Glenn) of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; a son, John Terry Huffstutler III of Guntersville; 3 grandchildren, Griffin Caudell, Sidney Caudell and Matthew Cooley; a brother-in-law, Lynn Phillips (Jenny); and Sweet Pea, his beloved kitty cat and wife, Gage Phillips Huffstutler; He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Huffstutler, and his first wife, Anne Thames Huffstutler. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 Thursday night at Guntersville Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held there Friday at noon with burial to follow in Lincoln Cemetery at Lincoln, Alabama. The family suggests memorials to the Marshall County Humane Society or American Heart Association.
