Billy Grayson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Billy Grayson, 88 with family by his side, retired Plumber, Billy Grayson passed away in the comfort of his home, Saturday, May 4, 2109. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Wood) Grayson, four daughters, Diane Gross, Becky Hill, Teresa Martin and Mitzi Whisenant; four grandchildren, Jennifer Saliba, Cory Havis, April Russell and Colby Martin, and seven great grandchildren. Billy was born in Marshall County on April 3, 1931 to Alex C. Grayson and Willie (Rollings) Grayson and was a long time resident of Guntersville. Evan as a young boy, he was a “people person”. As early as age 13, he was employed as a bellhop at the old Glover Hotel. Later, he received education to become a plumber and was employed at several businesses in Guntersville before opening his own business, Grayson Plumbing in 1992. A difficult job would not be a determent; in fact, he strived not to turn anyone down. Billy enjoyed camping, boating and being with family. He loved sports, especially, Alabama football. After retirement, his passion was restoring old trucks and endless hours would be spent making sure everything was just right! As his health declined, Billy enjoyed listening to music and watching movies and various sports games on TV. Any visit from family or friends was always a joy. A special thank you to the staff at Shepherds Cove Hospice for their comfort and support during his last days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Lakeside Clinic, especially Drs. John Boggess, Alex Nixon, Lezlie Reed Johnson and Joel Milligan for their loving care.
