William Ollie Giles Jr.

The earthly life of Bill Giles, Jr. passed peacefully on December 17, 2025, two weeks after his 77th birthday. Born in Newton, Mississippi, he was the eldest son of William Ollie Giles, Sr. and Mary Ella Waller Giles, both of whom preceded him in death. Bill was a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his former wives, Suzanne Moon Messersmith and Margene Cotton Giles, and his nephew, Micah Worthington Giles. Bill's greatest achievements were his legacies. He is survived by:  His children: William Ollie (Trey) Giles III (Monica Duke Giles) and Allison Elizabeth Giles Lefeve (John) of Guntersville, AL.  His grandchildren: William Ollie Giles IV; Carter Lewis Giles (Morgan Moon Giles); Georgia Grace Giles of Guntersville, Al; John Regan Lefeve; Ellie Lefeve; and Davis Giles Lefeve, all of Guntersville, AL.  His sister: Caroline Giles Mixon (Delano) of Gainesville, GA.  His brothers: John Waller Giles (Deborah) of Honora, AL; and Ted Wynn Giles (Donna) of Birmingham, AL.  His nieces: Heather Perry McGee (Ross) of Flowery Branch, GA; Zaviera Giles George (David) of Matthews, AL.  His nephews: Stephen Giles (Melisa) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Wynn Giles, Jr. (Alexis) of Birmingham, AL; and their families. Bill attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, AL, as well as Troy State University and Lurleen B. Wallace Technical School of Welding. He was a principal of Giles Enterprises, Inc. of Montgomery, AL during the 1970s. In his later years, he worked in production management in the automotive industry for National Industries, Inc. He was a past member of Fraser United Methodist Church. Bill was an avid sportsman who enjoyed archery, hunting, and watching sunrises from a tree stand. He was a true marksman with a passion for gun oil's scent and had a remarkable green thumb for horticulture. A dedicated patriot, Bill served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975 to 1978 as a corporal, completing two tours in Vietnam with an honorable discharge. He was slated to receive a Quilt of Valor in 2025 from the Quilts of Valor Foundation. He was also a compatriot of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
