Sarah Kathyrn Patterson Smith

We are sad to announce the passing of Sarah Kathryn Patterson Smith of Guntersville, AL. Sarah was born on January 16 th , 1976 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was a 1994 graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Jackson, Mississippi. After high school, Sarah attended Mississippi State University before finishing her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama. Sarah was a loving spouse, mother, and sister with too many unmatched qualities to list. Sarah was an exemplary employee at Healogics for the majority of her professional career. She worked as the director of the Wound Healing Center in Guntersville, AL before ascending to the position of Managing Vice President covering multiple wound centers in the southeast. Sarah found great satisfaction seeing patients heal and being part of that process. While Sarah’s professional career was quite accomplished, she would gladly tell everyone that her greatest accomplishment in life was being the mother of Ella and Archer. Nothing mattered more to her than her children. Her greatest joys in life were watching them succeed on the field of play and in the classroom. They filled her heart with pride. No one made her smile brighter or cheer louder than Ella and Archer. Sarah was always an advocate for spending time with family. No drama. No pretenses. Just love. Simply together. Laughing and telling the same stories with family never got old to Sarah. She taught her family what it meant to let down your guard and simply be with family. It’s quite possibly her greatest legacy. If you knew Sarah, you couldn’t help to be drawn to her smile. It was radiant and could brighten the darkest of days. When she was with family...she smiled. When she saw patients complete the healing process…she smiled. When her staff and team excelled…she smiled. When she spoke of her children…she smiled. Like a snowflake…her smile was uniquely her own. Sarah was a devoted friend who was always ready to listen, encourage and bring laughter when it was needed most. Sarah is survived by husband Brett Smith, daughter Ella Smith, son Archer Smith, brother Tommy Patterson, sister Judy Patterson – Sumrall (Scott) and her beloved Aunt Martha MItternight. She also has 3 nieces and 4 nephews who are dearly loved. In lieu of flowers: Please consider making donations to the Wound Healing Center, The Cancer Center and the Wildcat Pantry. The Family extends our gratitude to all of the nurses and doctors were a part of Sarah’s journey. From Oxford, MS to UAB and to home there are many people to thank. We’d specifically like to thank Dr. Ally Muhan & Dr. Harrigan at UAB. We’d like to thank Dr. Ewing, Dr. Payne, Tara Burnor, our nurse navigator, and the staff at the Cancer Center. Finally, we’d like to thank Shepherds Cove. Thank you to the coaches, teachers, staff, counselors in Guntersville City School System. Your help is more than appreciated.
