MaryLou Uchaker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of MaryLou Uchaker (Kriss), who left this world on March 4, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on January 23, 1954, in Spangler, Pennsylvania, MaryLou's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that touched the hearts of many. MaryLou was the devoted wife of John Sr. and a proud mother to her three children: John Jr. (Beth), Dawn, and George (Cassandra). Her legacy continues through her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close, cherishing the warmth and wisdom she shared with them. As an aunt and great-aunt to many, she was a beacon of love and support, always ready to lend an ear or offer guidance. Professionally, MaryLou made significant contributions as the Agency Application Office (AAO), Financial LOB, Team Lead for the Marshall Space and Flight Center (MFSC) in Huntsville, Alabama. Her dedication and expertise were instrumental in the center's success, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. While at MFSC, she was commended the Silver Snoopy Award for professional, dedication and outstanding support that enhanced space flight safety and success as well as NASA’s Exceptional Service Award for her exemplary leadership and personal dedication to the MFSC agency. A devoted member of St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville, Alabama, she found strength and community in her faith. She devoted countless hours to the church and activities surrounding it. MaryLou had a zest for life that was evident in her love for sunflowers which reflected her bright and cheerful personality. Music was a constant source of joy for her, and she took great pleasure in traveling to all 50 states, creating cherished memories along the way. As a founding member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, she celebrated the power of music to connect and inspire. Her humor, insightful advice, and vast knowledge of the world will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. MaryLou had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, and her friendships were a testament to her generous spirit. In the words of John Lennon, "I am going into an unknown future, but I am still here and still while there's life, there's hope." Mary Lou's legacy of hope, love, and laughter will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A celebration of MaryLou's life will be held on March 25, 2025 at noon at St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville, Alabama. She will be interred at St. Bernard Abbey’s columbarium in Cullman, Alabama following a luncheon in the Foley Center at St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville, Alabama.
