Thomas Gwenn Gibson - Age 78 - of Guntersville, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Tutt Fann Nursing Home in Huntsville. Service for Mr. Gibson will be Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2 pm at Guntersville Memorial Chapel with Guntersville Memorial Chapel Directing. Interment will be in Guntersville City Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Gibson will be Monday, April 18, 2011 from 1 until 2 pm at Guntersville Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jerome Gibson, Courtney Hammett, Donnie Oswalt, Dean Waldrop, Kenneth Kron, and Hugh Burgess.
Thomas Gwenn Gibson was born in the State of Alabama, October 4, 1932; the son of Thomas William and Della Ricketts Gibson.
Mr. Gibson graduated from Marshall County High School. He served in the Army in Korea. He worked at Redstone Arsenal from 1958 until his retirement in 1987 as a Data Specialist. After retiring from the Government, he worked for a short time for COLSA and United Engineering International, both in Huntsville. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his Wife, Dorothy (Dot) Gibson of Guntersville; 2 Sons: Thomas David Gibson and Samuel Paul Gibson, both of Texas; 1 Daughter, Debbie Suzanne Hammett and her husband, Danny, of Southside; 3 Grandchildren: Courtney Hammett, Bryant Gibson, and Morgan Gibson; and 3 Great-Grandchidren. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by 1 Sister, LaVerne Gibson Waldrop and 1 Brother, Gary Wayne Gibson.
