I want to express my sympathies and prayers to the family in the loss of Dr Lew Benson. He was a wonderful man. I have been with USDA FSIS since the late 1980s. In 1997, I happily worked for him as a Circuit Supervisor in North Florida when he was the Tallahassee Area Supervisor. He was a good friend and a great boss. I still remember him talking about trout fishing in Arkansas. After working for him, I was stationed in NW Arkansas and got to do plenty fishing in NW Arkansas though not in that exact spot. We are consoled in knowing he is with Our Lord and Savior Jesus during the month celebrating Our Lord’s Birth. Dr Lew will get to enjoy the best Christmas in his life with the LORD. And I bet there are wonderful trout streams in Paradise for Dr. Lew to hook the trout of a lifetime. God bless you all in this trying and difficult time for you. Doris I am very sorry for your loss. I have worked with Lew when I was a Circuit Supervisor in PR under the Tallahassee Area Office. Lew was always there to assist and provide guidence to everyone. He was a pleasure to work with and will be missed by many. May he Rest in Peace. God Bless and watch over him.

His approach to both work and personal relationships was one of unmatched fairness and integrity. No one in my career has had more impact than Dr. Lew Benson. I met Dr. Lew Benson while working in the Tallahassee Area Office. Dr. Benson always made time to listen to my concerns and offer advice freely. He was truly a good hearted man with a warm and positive outlook. My sincerest condolences to the family.

I recently found out about the death of Lewis Benson, and wish that I had gotten to know him much better. My dad (Phil Colling) and "Lew" were best friends, having grown up together in Kennett, MO and attending the University of Missouri. My middle name is Lewis as a result.
