As a coworker and friend of Karen's, I want you to know how very special she was to me and so many others. I can say nothing but wonderful things of her. In the years I've known her, she touched me in many ways with her thoughtfullness, compassion to others and her gift to give 110%+ to all I witnessed her do through her job and for the Alabama District Employees Association. As the President of ACDEA, I believe I represent all fellow members in saying Karen has blessed us with a legacy to follow and continue. As a fellow sister in Christ, I humbly say I look forward to the day I see her again in Heaven. May God Bless you Steve, Adam and the many hurting family and friends with peace that passes all understanding in the days ahead.

Dear Family and Friends, I can not express to you the love that I have for Karen. She was the dearest, sweetest friend to me during my work with her at SWCD. She always greeted me with a smile, always offered a hug and an encouraging word and always made sure I knew she loved me. I have been thru some very hard times since I started my work with SWCD and Karen was always there encouraging me, and helping me believe that things would all work out. I will miss her every day. I will love her and carry her in my heart forever. I pray that God will give you wonderful fond memories to cover all the sadness in your hearts. I know that she left you with hearts full of love and that each of you have many many wonderful times to recall with her. You were all truly blessed to have spent your life with her, and I am truly blessed to have called her one of my very best friends. She definately made this old world a brighter place and I am sure heaven is shining brighter with every minute she is there. I love you all. Steve I am sure you know but Karen loved you with all she was, she told me your love story and assured me God had my Steve somewhere waiting for me. I found my Steve, he is as wonderful as she assured me he would be. The love you and Karen shared gave me hope to hold on until I found him. God bless you and strengthen you. Beth Rhea, Franklin County SWCD

As I read all the condolences written by friends, acquaintances, and co-workers, my chest fills with pride because, Karen was my friend too. I was blessed to have her in my life for 28 years. I have never heard anyone speak a harm word about Karen. If you knew her, you loved her. She was the same yesterday as she was the day before. Genuine. We shared good times and weathered bad times for each other. Steve, I thank The Lord for letting your path cross with Karen's. You were her world and made her happy beyond measure. You were supposed to grow old together, but for some reason that we will never know here on earth, The Lord called her home. What a joyous reunion she must be having with her Lord and Savior and her daddy and grandparents that adored her as I did. Karen Denise Keel Hayes...I love you and will cherish the memories. Thank you for allowing me to be your friend.

While we never fully understand why something like this happens, we must take comfort in the fact that the Lord always has a purpose.... and that He has prepared a place for us to gather again.... I am thankful to have known Karen, and because of the testimony she left behind -- I WILL see her again! Rely on His peace and promises during this tragic time...our prayers are with you all.

Karen was and will always be an Angel in my heart. She treated Jace & Bryant better than if they were her own children. She was as special to Jace as she was to Bryant. They were blessed to have her in their life & I feel certain she will always remain in their hearts. Karen, your birthday gift arrived at my house the day we buried you....it just isn't fair. I love you & miss you. When Bryant wrestles w/Steve, he can no longer holler "KAREN KAREN" so that you can scold Steve. Steve I love you & I hate this has happened to you. I'm proud to be part of your family...

Where do I begin Karen. I am so thankful to have had you in my life for 17 years. It was my honor to call you my sister in law. We had some good times and bad. I will always cherish the time that we spent together and remember you with a smile. My heart is still heavy but I know that you are at peace with the Lord and that the reunion you are having is wonderful. I will always love and miss you. I am doing my best to keep Steve strong and he is doing really good he misses you though and loves you so very much. This earth will never be the same without you. Till we meet again I love you
